Shanes Computer, Network and Cyber Security.
A message from Shane.
While still providing the same friendly quality of services to both residential and business customers alike, I have rebranded my sole trader entrepreneurship to Shanes Computer, Network and Cyber Security
. I will still be working as a subcontractor for the firms that employ me and as a contractor for the clients that wish to hire me directly. However, I will now be focusing more on filling a skills shortage and providing cyber security and cyber safety services.
After some time of providing general computer and network support services to the public in NSW & VIC, I have discovered that my clients are interested in learning how to stay safe online and how to secure their systems. I have found the needs for residential customers are different from the needs for business customers, as business customers have many internetworked systems that must be secured to protect Australian citizen information. The cyber security needs for residential customers are still very important, especially for our elderly.
While residential customers tend not to have many internetworked systems that require remote access, they still need to follow best practices in securing their home computer systems and networks. Furthermore, they require cyber safety training. In my time of providing service, I have found that there is a difference between cyber safety and cyber security. Think of cyber security as the locksmith who installs a lock on your car and think of cyber safety as the owner of the car, who locks the door.
I will still be providing general IT support services, so if you still require assistance with setting up your printers, router or computers do give me a call. Currently, I am residing in Bathurst after moving here from Albury Wodonga for my university studies. I am due to the compete my Masters Degree in Cyber Security by the end of this year. To be honest, I will be looking to eventually enter the full time workforce, but that will not be the end for my sole trading entrepreneurship.
I enjoy providing services to my clients, I enjoy giving them actionable advice on how to stay safe online. It has been fun. Even when I re-enter the full time workforce I will still be providing services outside of my employment working hours as a sole trader.
Personally, I would, love to see Australia become a global cyber security superpower. Cybercrime has had a negative impact on Australia, we have all had our personal information stolen, cyber criminals are looking for every opportunity to gain unauthorised access to our information systems, our elderly have been the target of vicious scams that lost them their life savings. Its time to put a stop to this. Yes, there are plenty of free governmental resources to help you learn how to stay safe online, I encourage you look up those resources. However, If your looking for a personal, onsite customer orientated approach give me a call or send me an text or email.
Sincerely,
Mr Shane Currie
